Biodiesel is made from vegetable oils, yellow grease, used cooking oils, or animal fats. The fuel is made by transesterification—a method that converts fats and oils into biodiesel and glycerine (a coproduct). or so a hundred pounds of oil or fat area unit reacted with ten pounds of a short-chain alcohol (usually methanol) within the presence of a catalyst (usually hydrated oxide [NaOH] or hydroxide [KOH]) to make a hundred pounds of biodiesel and ten pounds of glycerine (or glycerol). Raw or refined plant oil, or recycled greases that haven't been processed into bio diesel, don't seem to be bio diesel and may not be used as vehicle fuel. Fats and oils (triglycerides) square measure far more viscous than bio diesel, and low-level oil blends will cause long-term engine deposits, ring projecting, lube-oil gelling, and alternative maintenance issues which will reduce engine life

Distribution

Bio diesel is distributed from the purpose of production to fuel terminals and wholesalers by truck, train, or barge. B5 is typically shipped by pipeline. Most bio diesel distributors can deliver B20 or B100 depending on the retailer's preference.
